Upon inspection, it seems that rainwater is penetrating between the tiles. Fortunately, the sarking felt underlay has prevented the water from affecting the interior of the loft, ensuring that the loft remains dry. However, the water appears to be running onto the wall beneath instead of draining into the gutters as intended. The roof is a couple on meters from the floor.

On the chimney there is a medium sized horizontal crack under what appears to be two fake bricks (or it might be red coloured cement). This crack needs to be sealed and might be corrected with new cement mixed with PVA and/or by inserting new imperial red bricks in place (the latter would probably be the best long term solution, I have spare bricks). Can potentially access the top of roof via velux window. The reason why needs to be done is because water leaking inside to the loft by seeping down the party wall, part of ridge board is very damp as a result as is one of the rafters attached to the party wall.
