Such a partnership begins with an idea, a wish or a need. Initial meetings focus on use, on setting, and on design. Drawings are made in situ. Spatial and environmental details - temperature, relative humidity, and room function - inform the design and choice of material.Making the workthe design agreed, a timeframe established, we hand-make the piece. Led by the wood, the quality of work — the methods employed, the tools used — is that which relates to the material in hand. Such a relationship involves knowing the wood, understanding its properties, and being prepared for its capacity to surprise. In this respect, we are as much craftsmen as we are makers.Client relationshipthroughout the making, we go to great lengths to keep the client informed as to how a piece is progressing.
